Lets take the process step by step, starting on step #5. On the main menu that runs above the blog post, there are a series of icons, and the blue one with the picture of the mountain top is the insert image icon. 

 

 

Once you click on it, another interface will open, to allow you to grab an image from your Blogger picture library, or to search your computer for an image. 

 

Your images will look different than these. You can search for an image on your own computer by finding and clicking the Choose Files button: 

 

In addition, you can select a file from a number of other sources.  

 

Once you have found the file you want to use, highlight it in the list, and then click "Insert"

Once you click the "Add Selected" button, the image is loaded onto your page.

Next, we scroll down the page until we spot the "Archive section". Inside the Archive section, we look for the edit link and click it.

Clicking on the link opens up a dialog box which we can use to adjust the layout of this widget.

We want to clean this section up, so we look for and select the "Dropdown Menu" radio button near the top right of the interface.

When we are done, we click "Save" and go back to refresh our page to see how it looks.
